Do not confuse a locator with a finding-network accessory

Begin with what the user expects to know and when. A last-seen location, a nearby finding interaction and an actively reported location are different experiences. The brief should say what happens outside coverage, without a phone nearby and when battery power is low.

The original locator solution describes real-time location, geofencing, SOS and custom appearance as areas for a selected solution. These should not automatically be copied onto a Find My tag. Likewise, a Find My-compatible product direction is not a blanket certification claim for every custom enclosure or electronics design.

Put the network and service model in the quotation

Discuss connectivity, any account requirements, recurring charges, supported regions and the owner of the companion software. Location services are particularly sensitive to the assumptions hidden behind a product demo. Use a written scenario matrix so expectations about coverage and update frequency are explicit.

Privacy, consent and safety expectations should be reviewed for the intended use. A device used around people, pets or valuable assets needs clear limitations and an appropriate escalation plan. Do not present a consumer accessory as a guaranteed emergency-response service.

Define the product before ordering

Send the use case, attachment method, size, expected battery pattern, target market and estimated order range.
